Illinois CPA Society Accounting Scholarship Program
(Supported by the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois)
Scholarships of up to $4,000 each are offered for accounting students
who show significant potential to become a CPA and demonstrate achievement as
well as financial need.
Illinois CPA
Society Scholarships help students who will have completed an
equivalent of 4 years of education by 8/31/08 and are planning to
complete their final year of education needed to sit for the CPA
Examination in Illinois. The Illinois CPA Society is especially
interested in helping those students that, because of limited
options or opportunities, may not have alternative means of support.
The scholarship covers the costs of tuition and fees and can include up to $500 in expenses for books and required
classroom materials. The scholarship does not cover costs of CPA
Exam review courses.
The Scholarship
program supports a diversity of students, investing in their success
and helping them to realize their dream of becoming CPAs.
Scholarship recipients have studied at a variety of schools
throughout the state, from large state schools to small private
schools to community colleges. Some scholarships have
supported students with their graduate studies, while others support
a fifth year of undergraduate education.
Eligibility:
Qualifying students
should have four years of education completed by 8/31/08, with plans
to take additional courses in the 2007-‘08 school year to meet the
requirements to sit for the CPA Exam. In addition, applicants
should:
-
Be a U.S. citizen, permanently residing in Illinois and enrolled in an Illinois
college or university.
-
Have a 3.0 / 4.0 GPA or equivalent.
-
Plan to sit for the CPA Examination in Illinois within three
years of application date, and demonstrate a course of study
that reflects this goal.
If students receive
a full-tuition waiver or reimbursement for tuition, they are not
eligible for this scholarship. However, the Society recognizes that
students will likely not know about scholarships and other forms of
support at the time of application, and highly encourages students
who anticipate they will need financial support to apply.
